Gayle's Story

Gayle arrived at Food for Others last week after losing her job in March. She had a 30-year career as an Event Supervisor at the Washington Convention Center before the facility closed to become a Covid-19 field hospital. With no end to the pandemic in sight, it's not clear when large events will be held again or when she will get her job back.  It's becoming increasingly hard for her to feed her family of six. Gayle is just one example of the many people who are newly out of work and coming to FFO for the first time. We wish her all the best in her job search.

Miller Heights Neighborhood Association

The Miller Heights Neighborhood Association in partnership with the Providence District Supervisor's Office started holding food and donation drives for FFO back in April. They secured a $10,000 match from James Duff and Family and ultimately contributed over $18,000 and hundreds of pounds of food. Thank you MHNA and the Duff Family for your dedication to our community!

Welcome New Staff! Dustin Lape

After two months of working as one of FFO's temporary warehouse staff assisting with our COVID-19 response, Dustin accepted a long-term Project Coordinator position with FFO. He will be working to expand our Community Partners program and our Mobile Sites program made possible by our generous donors and CARES Act funding. Dustin is a Lynchburg native, Liberty University Alum, AmeriCorps VISTA alum, and returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV). He enjoys biking, watching movies, and having light saber fights with his six-year-old nephew.
