After a cold start to spring, it's finally warm enough to plant those summer vegetables and herbs. Consider pledging to plant a row with Providence District office and turning a sunny spot in your yard into a victory garden to feed yourself and your neighbors in need. If you have extra seeds, you can always donate those to FFO as well. We love being able to provide our families with local, homegrown produce, and they are thrilled to receive it. 

 

Big Tow plays driveway concert to raise money for FFO

Flights for Food's headlining band, Big Tow, played for a neighborhood social distancing party and collected donations in their tip jar for Food for Others. They raised more than $900 for families in need of food. Thank you Big Tow & everyone who contributed!

 

Last Chance to Stuff the Bus!

Today, Fastran buses will be parked at locations throughout Fairfax County from 10am to 3pm to collect food donations for 10 nonprofits including Food for Others! Stuff the Bus is one of our largest annual food drives; we received over 6,000 pounds of food from the first round of donations on Saturday. This year, the collection sites are set up for social distancing. Help us stock our shelves by dropping off donations at one of the Stuff the Bus sites! 

 

Local ES donates their graduation funds to FFO

The sixth grade class of Wolftrap Elementary School has decided to make a class gift to Food For Others in lieu of their graduation activities. They would like to help support families in need. Thank you students and best of luck as you move to middle school!

 

Farmers Market Manager Volunteers Needed

The Fairfax County Park Authority Farmer’s Markets need Market Managers to open and close the markets and serve as the face of the program to customers and vendors. Apply if you would like to help bring fresh, healthy, local produce to your community and are interested in supporting local farmers/producers. For more information, contact Pamela Smith 703-642-0128 or email pamela.smith2@fairfaxcounty.gov.
